Hong Quan-Rui, born in 1948, was a son of a family who had been in the wood works business for generations. His father and elder brothers were all carpenters. At the age of 18, Hong Quan-Rui began to undertake projects of large wooden fishing boats, all by himself. Below is a list of his track record.
Built the King Boat required for religious offerings of Yuan An Temple, Jiangjun Village, Penghu County.
Served as Engineering Director for the reconstruction of Zhenhai (Sea Calming) Temple by applying boat-building techniques into the overall design and woodworks construction. Started with the project of Zhenhai Park.
Served as Director of King Boat Production for the religious ceremony held every three years in Donggang, Pingtung County.
Designed and produced the boat of Dragon Boat Festival for Pingtung County.
Designed and produced the boat of Dragon Boat Festival for Kaoshiung County.
Completed the construction of Jhen Hai Kung and Zhenhai Park. Currently serving as a committee member of Jhen Hai Kung.
Established Southern Music Club of Jhen Hai Kung. Currently serving as Committee Chairman.
Elected as National Model Laborer.
Participated in Asia-Pacific Fishing Basket Exhibition in Canada.
Designed and produced the boat of Dragon Boat Festival for Kaoshiung City.
Designed and produced the model for Dasian Temple, Tainan.
Designed and built the interior of Cingshuei Temple, Cingshueiyan, Linyuan Township.
Participated in the seminar on tradition arts and exhibition of traditional crafts and cultural diversity in Pingtung County.
Established Donggang Cultural & Environmental Development Committee in Pingtung County, and currently serving as Chairman. Involvement in cultural heritage activities and local welfare campaigns on a regular basis.
Showcased in Hong Quan-Rui- Boat Art Exhibition in the Art Center of National Yunlin University of Science and Technology.
Participated in exhibitions in National Center for Traditional Arts in Ilan and Office of the President in Taipei.
Produced two traditional bamboo boats for National Center for Traditional Arts in Ilan.
Produced three traditional bamboo boats for Pingtung County Government.
Produced Dragon Boat capable of daytime and nighttime sailing for Linyuan Township.
Produced two King Boats used in religious ceremonies for Water God Temple, Liouciou Township.
Elected as Supervisor of the board by Daoism Society of Taiwan and currently serving as a committee member of the Pingtung branch.
Passed the assessment of National Taiwan Craft Research & Development Institute and qualified as Taiwan Crafts Workshop.
Started to build Wasa (Swedish) warship.
Produced Dragon Boats for Chunan Township, Miaoli County and Tainan City.
